Waitākere College's 10-year relationship with the City Rail Link (CRL) infrastructure project reached a milestone today, with our college represented at the Official Opening held at Te Waihorotiu Station.
Our connection began in 2016 when students joined Prime Minister Sir John Key, Minister Nikki Kaye, and Mayor Len Brown for the official groundbreaking ceremony at Britomart Station. Years later, several of our students in the Project K programme had the unique opportunity to walk the newly completed tunnels from Waitematā (Britomart) to Te Waihorotiu.
Today, two of our students proudly represented the college at the official opening ceremony, meeting current and former mayors, the Prime Minister, and Members of Parliament.
Our students represent the present and future opportunities that Auckland and New Zealand have to offer. Experiences like this connect their learning to real-world pathways as they prepare for employment and adulthood in our city. It is a great privilege for Waitākere College to be part of this journey—past, present, and future.
