On our last week of term 3, we celebrated our annual Arts and Culture week.
Arts & Culture Week provides a well-deserved opportunity to shine a spotlight on our incredible ākonga who consistently show up for their craft, their art and their culture. Held annually, this week-long celebration showcases the immense diversity of our student body as well as the overwhelming artistic talent cultivated here at our kura.
Throughout the week, many of our Polyfest groups take the opportunity to give lunchtime performances under the bubble. This year we were delighted by our Cook Island, Filipino, Kapa Haka, Kiribati, and Tuvaluan groups. The week also featured lunchtime karaoke, a media studies screening, a performance by 42 Cents hip-hop dance crew, and daily pop-up markets selling cultural delights including dumplings, mango lassi, ube ice candy and sapasui! To add an extra touch of fun to the week, staff embraced a ‘cultured’ teaching day by donning wigs and wielding wands. On Friday, all staff and students were encouraged to celebrate the last day by wearing formal cultural attire.
